Getting started with taking payments

Follow these simple instructions to set up and start making the most of our low-cost payment solution. You don’t have to complete all the steps at once, and you can always refer to this guide if you need to.

Step 01
Getting set up: Connect to your Stripe account.

Now that you’re ready to get started with your low-cost payment solution (powered by Stripe), you’ll need to create your account. This is your first step to taking online and in-person payments at one of the lowest rates on the market.  

Once you’re logged in to SB Pro, you can connect your account via the ‘Connect’ section in the navigation. Simply click the ‘Create account’ Button.

After filling out some details about you and your business, you’ll need to share the account you wish to use for payouts. Once you’ve completed that information, you can review your details and then, click ‘Continue.’

Tip: If you haven’t already, get yourself set up with online payments as soon as possible. Not only can online payments open your business up to new audiences, but they also make it easier for your current customers to purchase your product.

Step 02
Order your payment terminal

If you want to take in-person payments, you’ll also need to order your Stripe payment terminal. The first step is to navigate to ‘Terminal orders’ section within SB Pro and click ‘Order Terminals’

You can then select which terminal you’d like and the number you’ll need for your business; you can choose as many as you think you’ll need. Ordering enough terminals for your premises will make sure you can take payments in the most time-efficient way possible.  

Your terminal will then be delivered to the address you provide. Once you receive your terminal, you’re almost ready to go, you just need to set up the device.

Tip: Even if you think you only need one terminal, it’s best to get at least two to prevent payment processing problems if one of your terminals should become broken or is lost.

Step 3  
Set up your terminal locations and keys

You’re almost ready to start taking in-person payments; there are just a few things left to do.

Tip: If you’ve never used a payment terminal before, this might seem confusing at first, but it should be straightforward if you follow the on-page instructions. If you do need help though, you can always contact our membership team.

To set up your terminal, visit the ‘Terminal app’ section in the navigation and click ‘Create terminal location’ and provide a few details.

This will now become the location where your payment terminals will be registered. After creating a terminal location, you’ll need to select ‘Create device key’.

Once you’ve done that, you can pair it with the terminal location you created previously. This will create the credentials required to authorise the app. If you have more than one terminal, you’ll need to create multiple unique pins, each paired to a specific device.

Step 4  
Set up user login pin

Now that your terminal handset is ready to go, it’s time to log in. Navigate to the ‘Account settings’ section (right near the button of the navigation). Once you’re in, find the ‘User details’ section.

Then, click the ‘Edit’ option and scroll to the ‘SB Pro Terminal’ section, access your chosen terminal, and enter your pin.

Step 5
Start taking payments and tracking transactions

Now that you’ve completed this final step, you can make the most of your low-cost payment solution and start taking in-person and online payments that will help you save money.  

Once you’ve started to process transactions, they will appear in the ‘Customer transactions’ section, under ‘Payments’.  

If you ever want to order more terminals, you can simply repeat the steps above.
